Commentary:

* Another new Scott Pilgrim movie trailer means another bump in sales for Scott Pilgrim comics. And news of the start of principal photography for AMC's Walking Dead television series leads to a boost for those comics as well. It's as though the path to comic sales lies more in the promise of a media product more than the actual movie or tv show itself. However, bucking the post-movie blues trend is Kick-Ass, which remains a top ten seller a while after the movie played to mixed reviews and lukewarm box office.

* Three more manga debut with their latest volumes this week: Vampire Knight, Bleach, and Battle Angel Alita. They join Naruto, Hellsing and Negima! from last week, making this one of the strongest weeks for manga on the Amazon list in quite a while. Apparently the news of the death of manga hasn't yet reached the readers, at least those of the more popular series.

* Also debuting this week is the latest volume of Dork Diaries, which apparently is the girl-starring equivalent of the Wimpy Kid series.
