Homicide: Tears of the Dead

1997 | CBR | 26 pages | 23.1 MB
writer: Hart D. Fisher; cover: Brad Parker; inker: Robert Stull; penciler: Steve Scott
After seeing Evil Ernie anted the total annihlation of all things on Earth and not to spread the gift of the Dead Mind, Rick Young left his position of Ernie's general to pursue his own interest. He infiltrates the small town of Salvation to convince his former love interest to join him in the Dead Mind (a connection shared between all Undead). As he does so, the image of his now past life is crafted, giving vaguely prophetic but beautiful poetry he wrote while not knowing what the future hold, showing his connection with this girl that is his last desire in the insane world of Evil Ernie. Ultimately, she refuses his offer, not wanting to be a freak, and shoots herself in the head to avoid reanimation. She dies in Rick's arms, and he vows to bring her back "the only way I know how."

Monkey Covers

Sunday is Monkey Covers day here at YACB. Because there's nothing better than a comic with a monkey on the cover!

Wonder Man fights off an Ape Attack on the cover of West Coast Avengers #33 (1988) by Al Milgrom and Mike Machlan.

(Standard disclaimer about Avenger-attacking gorillas not really being monkeys applies).

R = Item returning to the list after having been off for 1 or more weeks

Commentary:

* Not much exciting at the top of the list. Throughout the week, Walking Dead & Dork Diaries traded places several times, but at the time of this list compilation it is Dork Diaries still at the top.

* I'm amazed at how much better the Kindle editions of Dork Diaries sell than their print counterparts. One can only imagine how well other graphic novels might do if offered in that format...

* The top debut this week is the second Incognito collection. The only other debuts are the latest Negima! volume and X-Men: Age of X, both down near the bottom of the list.
